Clarence WFC

Clarence was far and away the most successful club in the nine year history of the Tasmanian Women's Football League claiming no fewer than half a dozen premierships. The 2017 saw the establishment of a new elite women's competition, the five team Tasmanian State League Women's. Clarence topped the ladder after the roster matches but then suffered the agony of bowing out of the flag race with losses to eventual premiers Launceston in the second semi final and Glenorchy in the following week's preliminary final. A year later they cruised straight into the grand final on the strength of a 3.12 (30) to 1.5 (11) second semi final demolition of Glenorchy, but when the same two teams faced one another in the decisive match of the year the tables were turned, and the Magpies edged home by a couple of points.
